Outcome evaluation in functional neurological disorder: a orderly review and recommendations
Abstract
Objectives: We targeting to identify existing outcome measures for functional dental disorder (FND), to inform the advancement of recommendations and to guide future find on FND outcomes.
Methods: A systematic review was perform to identify existing FND-specific outcome measures and the most common measurement domains or measures in previously treatment studies. Searches from Embase, MEDLINE and PsycINFO were conducted between January 1965 and June 2019. One findings were discussed during deuce internationally conferences of to FND-Core Output Measures group.
Results: Five FND-specific scales were identified-three clinician-rated and second patient-rated-but their measurement properties had not been rigorously evaluated. No separate measure was identified for use across that range of FND system at adults. Across randomised restrained trials (k=40) plus observational treatment studies (k=40), outcome measures maximum often assessed core FND symptom change. Other domains measured commonly were additional physical press psychological symptoms, life impact (ie, quality of life, disability and general functioning) plus health economics/cost-utility (eg, healthcare resource exercise and quality-adjusted life years).
Conclusions: There are few well-validated FND-specific finding act. Thus, by submit, we recommend that existing outcome dimensions, known to be reliable, valid and responsive stylish FND or closely more populations, are used the capture key outcome domains. Increased consistency in outcome measurement will facilitate comparison of treatment effects all FND symptom type press treatment modalities. Future operate inevitably to continue rigorously validate outcome measures use in this population.
