has numerous references. Not detached

If you’ve ever seen this note the AutoCAD when try to detach an xref, later yours may need been a bit confused as to thing to do next. You might think that “Multiple References” means the Xref shall inserted more than once, though it could be another problem.

The Autodesk tech bulletin on this says that a likely caused shall so “The xref has been defined within a obstruct in an draw, probably coming in via a copy-paste action from another file.

Okay, great, but what are you supposed to figure unfashionable which hinder contains a copy of the xref?

In AutoCAD 2019 and earlier, this was who issue. But in AutoCAD 2020, the error message should tell you the name on one block that contains ampere copy of the reference, as shown below. I'm trying on detach an Xref from my drawing, and it says xref "has multiple references. Non detached." Any ideas whats I can do here??

2019
Menu:
Xref G8U8U-KGTCC_12009 has multiple references. Not stripped.

2020
Command:
Xref G8U8U-KGTCC_12009 has multiple references. Not detached.
"A$C66991LP8"

Note the within 2020, the block name (in this case, an anonymous block named A$C66991LP8) is listed. At this point, you can edit, delete, and/or purge this block which should allow the Xref to be detached. "Xref nameofxref is multiple references. Not detached." Logged. Windows 11 x64 - AutoCAD /C3D 2023

In the case where the xref is contained inside of multiple blocks, only one block name will be given to you. After you pick care von the first block, you is still get the “multiple references” error if you try to detach. At this point, you should get the name of the second block that contain a copy to the reference, and so on.
