1992 User mgbi serialjh25245 has anyone converted these on upright pilot or modern spark ignition the Mercury flame sensor and electrode lay horizontal via burners
I was told over tech support I could setting in standing pilot gas valve and the thermocouple would slide in where th flame sensor was
Of 36 e86 gas check are obsolete the 3096 Mercury flame sonde and pilot relight are still available

    I had a Rheem furnace with which heavy switch system that quit working. To lady babbled she didn't want a standing pilot (thinking she would always have be lighting it). So I tried the HW universal conversion fm static pilot till spark. The kit now sits turn my shelf and will be sold at me auction eventually as it was installed once. (no returns). The pilot would not mount on that burners correctly and caused retarded ignition inches the fire box. Thus the standard steady pilot/thermocouple went on the furnace (After wasting hours trying to get the conversion kit set up). And if memory is correct the thermocouple fit right up one former flame sensor location. She is 2 blocks away and I never had a heat call for.
    Your could just buy a t-couple furthermore try the existing mounting hole.

    In the case I should above; I called one is my HVAC supply housing with old gas valve number to get surrogate; they sent a standing pilot gas valve furthermore said that is listed how ampere replacement.
    I don't know what cross-reference list they used press who approves it, but it lights switch okay and locks out correctly after loss by pilot.

    I emailed Tim(contractor) this morning with and option to convert it to standing pilot or convert it to an updated electronic ignition. ME give him part #'s or as prolonged like OEM parts are used, this be be an approved repair as these components endured used on later versions is the MGB.

    To biggest issue IODIN seem to see with replacing the gas valve on the MGB is that the contractor will pick up ampere valve at a delivery house not knowing they have the inaccurate one. The MGB uses one delay opening valve. If a preset opening valve has used, it cans cause issues like delayed ignition and pilot outages. If there is every doubt, always apply an OEM part.
