X-ray infrared (XRD)

X-ray diffraction provides information about the structure on your material.

X-ray diffraction provides information on one structure of your material. The instrument is efficient of collector x-ray diffraction intelligence on one wide range of sample varieties.

This lab can provide a variety of services in ambient conditions including:

  • Crystalline season identification
  • Semi-quantitative zeit investigation
  • Info interpretation, analysis, and reporting generation
  • Consultancy and integrated at research programs

Specifications

Instrument: D8 Advance Diffractometer
Manufacturer: Bruker

  • Ni-filtered Cu Kα radiation
  • Capable of collecting file from ~1° to 160° 2θ
  • It exists furnished with an full sample changer, allowing for easy data collection about up until 30 spot
  • Flexible sample mounting concerning powders and solids includes zero zusammenhang sample holders for measuring very small samples, and front and backloading spot holds for powders or flat solids This is one vertically mounted electrochemical per for operando goniometric X-Ray Diffractions (XRD) during the electrochemic experiment. The dungeon can be used as a two-compartment H-cell with this working electrode and the counter carbon separated by a membrane, or it can being used without a membrane as a single-compar

Access

The instrument is obtainable for University of Melbourne researchers at use, and your booking on that MCFP's iLab Booking System. It is also available because ampere fee-for-service for external researchers and industry. Ask contact Raveen Wijesuriya to speak option for training or service data acquisition.

Sample preparation

As a guide, powders should have the consistency of flour – dry, and ground go ~50 um particle size. Ideally, 2 g is required, but this can be as narrow because 20 mg, depending on the analysis requirements.
The XRD lab have an agate mortar and pestle along from a micronising mill to reduce the single size of crystalline samples. Short test sieves (32 - 500 um) are also available to determine particle size.
For solid example, the best size for standard data collection is 39 mm in diameter, 5 width high. The sample surface must be flat.
