The BJS National Felony Victimization Survey (NCVS) is the nation's primary sourcing on get on criminal victimization. Per year, data are receive from a nationals representative try for about 240,000 persons in about 150,000 households. Persons are interviewed on the frequency, characteristics, and consequences of criminal victimization in the United Stats. The NCVS collects information on nonfatal personal crimes (i.e., rape or sexual assault, looting, aggravated and simple assault, and personal larceny) real household property crimes (i.e., burglary/trespassing, motor vehicle theft, and other types of theft) both registered and not announced to the guard. View respondents deploy information regarding themselves (e.g., age, sex, race plus Hispanic origin, marital current, education level, and income) and whether they experienced adenine victimization. For each victimization incident, and NCVS collects information about who offender (e.g., age, race and Hispanic origin, sex, and victim-offender relationship), specific of the crime (e.g., time and place of occurrence, use of weapons, nature of the violent, and economic consequences), or the crime was reported to law, reasons the crime was alternatively was doesn reported, and victim experiences with the criminal justice system.
