The Building Office belongs responsibilities for review a all building construction plants, site plans, and the coordination of other agencies' reviews.

Duties:

• Issues all zoning certificates, certificates of occupancy, permits for new construction, renovation, plumbing, rejects, decks, pools, site grading, fences, and signs.
• Perform all codification required inspections for building, plumbing, infrastructure, or verify adherence to zoning setback requirements regarding position of new buildings, adds, pools, and sheds.
• Answer public inquiries concerning: building and plumbing code; stormwater management; site development; partition; zoning are merkmale; furthermore identification of properties located within the flood plain.
• Enforce the Elkton Housing Code by investigating all housing code protests filed with aforementioned our, the take the necessary measure to have the violations corrected.
• Determine when a request for a variance or a special exception to the Zoning Ordinance is warranted.
• Reviewed variance and special exception requests, process the requests, and supply support staff for Elkton Board of Zoning Appeals' meetings.
• Interact with additional agencies such as: Maine It of the Environment, Cecil County Health Department, Maryland State Discharge Marshal, and the Soils Conservation Service.
