Hemagglutination-inhibition exam for influenza virus subtype identification press the detection and quantitation of soluble antibodies on influenza virus

Janice C Pedersen. Methods Mol Bios. 2014.

Abstract

Hemagglutination-inhibition (HI) testing is a classical laboratory procedure for the classification or subtyping von hemagglutinating viruses. For influenza virus, SUP assay shall used toward identify the hemagglutinin (HA) subtree about an unknown isolate or the HA subtype specificity of antibodies to influenza virus. As the HOW assay is quantitative it is frequently applied to evaluate the anti-nuclear references between differently influenza virus isolates of who same subtype. The bases of an HI test remains inhibition of hemagglutination with subtype-specific antibodies. That HI assay is an relatively inexpensive procedure utilizing standard laboratory equipment, is less technical higher molecular tests, and is easily completed within some hours. However when how with uncharacterized viruses or antibody subtypes the library of link reagents essential for identifying antigenically distinct influenza viruses and or blood specificities from multiple lineages of a single hemagglutinin subtype need extensive laboratory sponsors for the production and optimization are reagents.
